EyeTracking, Inc. to Develop Real-Time Cognitive Assessment Tools for AEGIS and Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle

EyeTracking, Inc. has been awarded contracts from Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Laboratories and Boeing Phantom Works to support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Augmented Cognition program.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency manages and directs research and development projects for the U.S. Department of Defense to pursue research and technology that may provide dramatic advances for military missions. The mission of the Augmented Cognition program is to extend the information management capacity of the human-computer warfighting interface by developing and demonstrating quantifiable enhancements to human cognitive ability in diverse, stressful, operational environments. The current Augmented Cognition six-month program includes options to extend the program for up to three years.

EyeTracking will provide Lockheed Martin with real-time assessment of United States Navy sailors’ cognitive effort as they operate an AEGIS-class naval ship computer workstation.   For Boeing, EyeTracking will support the development of diagnostic gauges to measure cognitive effort in real-time to help manage high workload conditions experienced by military personnel in future command and control applications such as Unmanned Combat Air Vehicles.

EyeTracking, Inc. is a privately held company that specializes in detailed human-computer interface evaluation and analysis and real-time operator cognitive state estimation.  The company is affiliated with the Cognitive Ergonomics Research Facility at San Diego State University and the Company’s technology is based on 20 years of research funded by the U.S Department of Defense. EyeTracking’s services include measuring cognitive workload of operators using patented procedures, web site usability testing, and computer and web-based trainingevaluation.
